Review Suggestions (Last updated: 2023-10-01)

While I haven't had a lot of suggestions with regard to reviewing work, I figure that someday it might come up, so just in case this is how the whole thing works:

Scheduling

• Reviews are posted every other Monday at midnight Mountain Time
• There will therefore be approximately 26 reviews per year
• The reviews are typically a few months behind when I've actually read the book in question
• Reviews will concentrate on non-fiction, but the occasional fiction book might slip in if it is really good.
• Every once in a while I'll throw in a movie review, but these are pretty rare and typically only when there is a book tie-in with a movie
• With regard to movies - I typically have no use for the way Hollywood, Disney, and various other companies will take an author's hard work and then feel because they have paid the author some money that they then have the arbitrary right to change it to make it "better". I'm well aware that this means that Hollywood / Disney / etc. will never buy any of my books, but then again I'm not too sure I'd want them to after seeing the way they have butchered good stories.

Reviews of Fiction when they appear which won't be often (listed alphabetically)

• I typically review the following types of fiction :
• Classical Science Fiction
• Crime
• Espionage
• Fantasy
• General Science Fiction
• Historical Fiction
• Mysteries
• Westerns

Reviews of Non-fiction (listed are alphabetically too)

• I typically review the following types of non-fiction ( a couple of exceptions are noted in the next section):
• Anthropology
• Creative Writing
• Feminism
• General Science
• History of Science
• Humanism / Atheism
• Humour
• Instructional / How to / Do it Yourself
• Instructional Science (i.e., How science is taught, or how it should be taught)
• Science commentary
• Skepticism
• Theoretical Sciences

Reviews I Don't / Won't Do (and you guessed it, they're listed alphabetically)

• I do not review any of the following, primarily because I don't feel I have the technical or experiential background to do a proper job of it:
• Anything not in English (If I can't read it, it's kinda hard to review it)
• Auto-biographies & Biographies (For the most part I'm not too interested in other people's lives, and find that them relating why they did something kinda boring) I make the odd exception to a few celebrities, but they are few and far between.
• Religious books (religion in general, including religious fiction, New Age, etc.)
• Life experiences (While I have done a couple these in the past, they are unlikely to appear much.)
• Mathematics (I wouldn't even know where to start)
• Performing Arts (I know what I like, but that's about as far as it goes)
